It has been another great week at BMS, as we have seen several of our students receive recognition throughout the state for their tremendous achievement throughout this school year. I want to congratulate our Science Olympiad team on an impressive 4th place finish this past weekend in the Science Olympiad State Tournament. We were the highest performing team in WCS as well as in Middle Tennessee! Also, this past weekend our Student Government Association (SGA) traveled to the TASC State Convention where they were named a 4-Star Council (highest possible rating), as well as received the Platinum award for the number of service projects they completed this year and the impact they have had on our school community! Finally, I want to congratulate our math teams for their outstanding performance at the MTSU middle grades math contest yesterday. Our teams placed 1st in 6th and 8th grade math, and our 7th grade team placed 2nd. One of our very own BMS students took home 1st place in each grade level!
We are looking forward to beginning our TCAP testing next Tuesday, April 16th, with our TCAP Writing Assessment. Students will complete the paper-pencil writing assessment first thing Tuesday morning during the 90-minute testing window. Please remember that it is extremely important and beneficial for your child to get a good night sleep and eat a nutritious breakfast on the morning of testing. In order to help our students perform their best, we will not assign any homework to be due the next day on the night before testing. If you bring your child to school, please plan to arrive a little earlier on testing days in order to allow your child ample time to report to their testing site in the morning. We will not be able to allow students into the testing site once testing begins. As a result, your child will have to miss their classes later in the day in order to make up the TCAP Assessments. Parents, thank you in advance for your partnership and support in helping your child achieve their personal best on this year’s TCAP Testing.
With only 27.5 days of school remaining, and a couple of these weeks set aside for TCAP Testing and Final Exams, it is important that you support and encourage your child to sprint through the finish line. Due to the end of year schedule, there will be limited grading and assessment opportunities in the 4th Nine Weeks, therefore, making it really important to maximize each grading opportunity. Now that we are a couple weeks into the 4th Nine Weeks, please sit down with your child this weekend to review their current performance in the 4th Nine Weeks.
