The Arts Programs at Brentwood Middle provide many students with the methods for expressing their creativity and artistic talents.  Upcoming events, important dates and information can be found below.

Congratulations to the 7th Grade Artists Recognized by Brentwood Public Library! 7th Grade artists Emily Kalinowski and Julianne Burke won recognition in the recent Brentwood Public Library “Yule Ball” poster contest. Emily won 1st place, receiving $100 for her entry; Julianne won the “Fan Fav” award for her poster.

Congratulations to BMS 8th graders Angela Huo and Morgan Koerlin! They will be recognized for their Scholastic Regional Art Competition entries this Saturday at Cheekwood Museum of Art. Angela won a Gold Key prize, and Morgan, an honorable mention, for their self-portrait drawings.

Volunteers Needed for the BMS Art Show

Do  you have some spare time to devote to labeling art pieces or hanging art on display screens?  Would you like to mentor one of our Studio8 8th grade art students? Do you have a truck that could be used to pick up & transport the wire display screens? If you answered YES, we would greatly appreciate your help! Please sign up. Thanks in advance for your help!

Announcements

Congratulations to the WCS Honor Choir Participants! These students were selected to represent BMS at WCS Honor Choir at Belmont University. Kate Smith, Adele Smith, Isabella Doyle, Ameya Nath, Mary Kate Anderson, Helen Darsinos, Ellie Badgett, Kyndal Hazen, Jason Wang, Sam Holt, Morgan Hebert, and Drew Bauchiero.

Congratulations to the MTVA Honor Choir Participants! These students auditioned and were selected for Middle Tennessee Vocal Association’s Honor Choir at Northside Baptist Church in Murfreesboro. Ella George, Adele Smith, Kate Smith, Madeline Muse, Sam Holt, and Ivie Faul.

Upcoming Productions

Tickets for the spring musical, “Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Jr.” are now on sale.

Performance dates and times are:

  • Thursday, February 28th at 7:00 PM
  • Friday, March 1st at 7:00 PM
  • Saturday, March 2nd at 2:00 PM (This is a sensory friendly performance.)
  • Saturday, March 2nd at 7:00 PM
  • Sunday, March 3rd at 2:00 PM

There is also “Tea with Ariel and Friends” on Saturday, March 2nd from 5:30 PM -6:15 PM prior to the evening performance.

Congratulations to the Mid-State Orchestra Participants! These students were selected to represent BMS in the MTSBOA All Mid-State Honors Orchestra in Murfreesboro:  Nila Kondee, Daniel Olopade, Brian Xu, Julien Cambournac, Alyssa Goodman, Grace Lu, Yoojin Park, Amy Xu, and Laura Zimmerman.

Congratulations

Several BMS students were accepted into the 2018 Williamson County Honors Orchestra.  Amy Xu, Brian Xu, Tiffany Seo, Grace Lu, Yoojin Park, Sasha Villaruz, Alyssa Goodman, Daniel Olopade, Nila Kondee, Aiden Berryhill, Rachel Clark, Laura Zimmerman, and Abbey Hicks.  Congratulations to these students for this accomplishment.

Information

VNN (Viking News Network) is a news program developed by students and shown to students throughout the year.  Students selected to participate in VNN go through an application process and must have a working knowledge of video production techniques.  Students are eligible to apply for the upcoming school year at any time during the current school year.  The VNN staff meets during Power Monday times.
