Counseling and Guidance

The counseling and guidance programs at Creekside are available to help students, parents, and teachers to develop positive learning experiences. The programs consists of a variety of services and activities including individual and group counseling, parent and teacher consultation, classroom guidance, information services, referral assistance to other programs and in the community, and student testing.

Direct Services

Our Counselors meet with each class every week to teach a guidance lesson in the form of a class meeting. Guidance lessons are based on Tennessee State Standards and focus on general areas of personal/social development, academic success and career introduction.  Specific lessons are structured on topics such as, but not limited to: bullying, safety, careers, and character development. Our guidance counselors also tailor lessons to needs that arise in each classroom and grade level

Our Guidance Counselors also meet with small groups of students on topics such as, but not limited to, divorce, grief, and anxiety – as determined by the needs of student population.

Small groups of students (typically three to six students) with similar needs meet throughout the school year with one of our guidance counselors in order to develop personal skills. This helps the students understand that they are not alone in dealing with difficult situations and that they can support each other.  Small groups typically meet six to eight sessions.

Our Guidance Counselors are available to meet with students one-on-one for individual counseling needs.

If you feel that your student is in need of additional support to reach their potential socially, academically, or emotionally, please contact Lisa King or Elle Rahimi to express your concerns. We want Creekside to be a safe environment for all students in every aspect of their lives.
