Paying for Meals

When enrolled, each student is given an account with a Personal Identification Number (PIN). This will be a randomly generated five-digit number. This PIN will remain the same as long as the student stays enrolled in the district. To access their lunch account, students will be asked by the cashier to type in their PIN. They will do this on a device located on the cashier stand.

Students will only have one meal account. From this account, the student can purchase their breakfast, lunch and any a la carte items. If parents would like limitations put onto their child’s account (i.e. “ice cream only on Fridays”), please complete the Meal Restrictions Request Form.

Students

  • K-12 Breakfast cost is $2.00
  • K-12 Lunch cost is $2.90
  • Reduced price breakfast is $0.30
  • Reduced price lunch is $0.40

Adults

  • Breakfast cost is $2.25
  • Lunch cost is $3.50

Option 1 (Online Application – English | Español)

This is the fastest and most secure method of applying for benefits. Once the application is completed, applicants will know immediately if they qualify to receive benefits.

Once the application has been submitted, it should take less than 24 hours for these benefits to be reflected on the child’s account.

Option 2 (Hand-Written Application)

Parents can also apply by printing the Free and Reduced Application, completing the form, and mailing it to the Food Services office or turning it into the school’s cafeteria. The application can also be picked up at any school’s front office. Please note that this method may take up to 10 days for the Food Services department to process.

If at anytime you need assistance filling out the application, please contact Cathy Wood at 615-472-4990. If you need an application in a language other than English, contact the Food Services office. The office will provide you an application in the requested language.

Who May Qualify for Free & Reduced Meals?

  • If you now get Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, your child qualifies to receive free meals.
  • If your household income is at or below the federal guidelines, your child may qualify to receive free or reduced priced meals.
  • If you have a foster child, he or she may be eligible to receive free meals regardless of household income.

Parents can deposit money into their child’s account in a few different ways.

  • Through the WCS Meal Payments online payment system.
  • By sending a check that includes the child’s legal name and their lunch account number.
  • Although cash payments are accepted, it is not recommended to send cash to school with students.

Food Services is a self-supporting enterprise within Williamson County Schools.

Directed by the School Board, Food Services must maintain a responsible financial approach in its operation to remain self-supporting. Extending lunch loans to the more than 34,000 students within the district can burden the department and jeopardize its ability to serve all district students.

Parents are encouraged to take an active role in monitoring their child’s lunch account and make sure there are sufficient funds to cover all purchases.

Each school sets its own policy when it comes to students not having enough money in their accounts to cover meal cost. Parents should contact the school to find out what policies are in place. Toward the end of the year, many schools put in place a “No Charge” policy.

Negative balance alerts will be emailed to the parents on a weekly basis. Keep contact information updated with the school.

  • Contact the school’s Café Manager
  • Contact the Food Service office
