Indoor Air Quality
The Maintenance Department holds the health and well-being of students and teachers in the Williamson County Schools in the highest regard. The department maintains and monitors the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning in the district assuring Indoor Air Quality is held at the highest standard.
In 2000, a performance contract with Chevron Energy Solutions (formerly Viron Energy Services) was negotiated. In that contract, four schools received new pieces of HVAC equipment, all schools received lighting upgrades and all facilities received a standardized Novar Energy Management System with the exception of the bus garage.
The buildings are environmentally conditioned to satisfy normal comfort requirements of occupants, but should be established with due consideration for energy conservation.
Current approved temperature ranges for Williamson County Schools are: 67 to 73 degrees for winter and 70 to 76 degrees for summer for classrooms and the main office during normal school operation.
For common areas such as cafeterias, gymnasiums and hallways, the temperature ranges are 62 to 68 degrees for winter and 73 to 79 degrees for summer during normal school operation. Heating and cooling is reduced and/or increased during times when the buildings are not scheduled for use.
