Online Learning Program

Educating Students Through Online Learning

The WCS Online Learning Program (OLP) offers online classes to students in ninth through twelfth grades who are enrolled in one of the district’s high schools.

These courses are taught in a hybrid format, with most of the work being online and two required in-person meetings each month. Each class is taught by a Williamson County Schools teacher. A student can choose to take an online course instead of taking that same course at the brick-and-mortar school where he/she is zoned, or a student can take the courses in addition to what he/she is taking at his/her brick-and-mortar school.

The online classes through Williamson County Schools offer an alternative to traditional classes and can be beneficial for students for various reasons. However, not all students find online classes to be the best fit for them. We currently serve students who are looking to earn more credits than they can fit into their traditional schedules and students who are interested in trying their classes in a different format. Students who are the most successful in online classes are good with time management and self-discipline and are willing to reach out to the teacher when they need help.

No, the courses are not self-paced. The classes offered through OLP follow the same pacing as our traditional classes offered in our brick-and-mortar buildings. Work is typically sent out one week at a time, with the work opening each Sunday and closing on Saturday. Students offer flexibility to work on the assignments at the time of their choosing throughout the week.

Access the Google Form to register for a class through the Online Learning Program or see your school counselor. The registration process for OLP will occur at the same time as traditional course registration for the 2019 – 2020 school year.
