Accountability

Tennessee’s accountability system based on the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) measures districts and schools against multiple indicators: achievement, growth, chronic absenteeism, English learner performance, graduation rates, and ready graduates. WCS was designated an Advancing District and 35 schools were designated Reward Schools for 2025. More information is available on the TDOE’s Accountability page.

State law also requires a school letter grade rating system, which is based on achievement, growth, and college and career readiness. More information is available on the TDOE’s School Letter Grades page.

Tennessee Value-Added Assessment System

The Tennessee Value-Added Assessment System (TVAAS) uses models to measure student growth by comparing a student’s performance with those of similar students on the same assessment.

The public TVAAS website provides access to school and district growth data and allows visitors for compare data.
