What are the benefits of jumping rope?
Jumping rope is a total body activity that engages almost every muscle of the body. It helps develop speed, quickness, balance, coordination, stamina, flexibility and stimulates the brain thus giving a child a sense of well- being and relaxation in preparing them for daily classroom activities.
Jump rope helps build character thru creativity and promotes teamwork in resolving conflicts thru problem solving when preparing short routines. The deep breathing children will do through jumping rope will clear their minds, sharpen their focus, and energize them for the day ahead.
Jumping rope involves learning new movements and doing them repetitively. This means their brain is actively working to keep their body going which improves cognitive function.
Jumping rope develops self- confidence and builds friendships.
A jump rope is portable. Children can bring it with them no matter where they are. It allows them to be active anywhere and continues with them as a lifetime sport.
Fourth and fifth graders will be taught yoga poses, breathing, and mindfulness exercises that bolster a calm mind, boost flexibility and strength, advance gross and fine motor skills, raise concentration, and give children strategies to manage stress in their daily lives. Music, games, crafts, and stories will be combined into a fun, laid-back activity. Each class ends with a motivational quote/project to get students started on a positive note.
This group blends online, self-guided and self-paced tutorials with “unplugged “activities that require no computer at all. By the end of each course, students can create interactive games or stories that they can share with anyone. Computer science is a foundation for every student. Many kids love to play games and apps. Now they can learn how to CREATE games, apps and programs!
