• Interscholastic Athletics

Interscholastic activities in Williamson County Schools are an important part of the overall educational process. The athletic programs offer students expanded learning opportunities including self-discipline, self-esteem and teamwork. Students who participate in extracurricular activities tend to get higher grades, have better attendance and pose fewer discipline problems.

All Williamson County high schools offering interscholastic sports are members of the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) and abide by its constitution and by-laws in addition to the applicable policies of the Williamson County Board of Education. The Middle Schools belong to the Tennessee Middle School Athletic Association (TMSAA).

  • The opportunity to participate in WCS athletic programs is extended to all students who meet the eligibility requirements of the TSSAA, policies of the Williamson County Board of Education and/or guidelines set forth by the WMAA. Before participating, students are required to have a physical on file dated after April 15 and complete the Final Forms process.

Multiple club sports that are not sanctioned are offered at WCS schools. Sports and locations vary. WCS offers the following sanctioned sports at the 6-12 levels:

  • Baseball  |  Basketball  |  Bowling  |  Cheerleading  |  Cross-Country  |  Dance  |  Football  |  Golf  |  Soccer  |  Softball  |  Tennis  |  Track & Field  |  Volleyball  |  Wrestling

  • FinalForms

All WCS athletic physical forms are available through the FinalForms online dashboard enabling parents and students to complete required athletic forms electronically. The only form families will be required to print, sign and return is the physical form. This form is available through the FinalForms dashboard, must be printed, completed and signed by a physician. The form should be uploaded through the student's FinalForms account in order to be eligible to participate in athletics. All required forms must be completed online to be eligible for tryouts and participate in athletic programs or activities. Parents will automatically be notified when the child’s forms and physical need to be updated.

For parents and students new to Williamson County Schools who have not been provided access to the FinalForms dashboard, please contact the school’s athletic director or coach for assistance. Their contact information can be found on the school’s Faculty & Staff and/or Athletics website pages.

    Physical Exams

Certified Athletic Trainers will be available at each of our high schools. These athletic trainers provide a valuable service to our athletes, schools and coaches. Please ask for their assistance when the need arises. These athletic trainers are beginning to be used in our middle schools as well. If your middle school student has an injury and would like to see an athletic trainer, please contact the coach or school AD who can put you in contact with the designated Athletic Trainer.

The Tennessee State Board of Education rules will be enforced regarding students obtaining athletic physicals before being allowed to participate. Physicals last for one calendar year and must be updated annually by April 15. The sports physicals received on or after April 15 are good for the entire next school year. TSSAA/TMSAA requires athletes to receive a sports physical April 15 or after even to just try out for any school sport.

Williamson County School Board policy requires students to have a current athletic physical on file in order to participate in any extracurricular activity involving athletics. These activities include but are not limited to weight training outside of the instructional day, conditioning, open facilities, tryouts, practices, and athletic contests.

If you have any questions regarding athletic physicals, please contact your school's Athletic Director.
