• Information and Procedures for Textbook Adoptions

Williamson County Schools (WCS) adopts new textbooks and instructional materials in accordance with the Tennessee Department of Education's Adoption and Implementation Cycle. These adoptions are on a six-year cycle but have been extended in some cases beyond six years. The State Textbook and Instructional Materials Quality Commission formulates the recommended textbook list in its October meeting and sends it to the State Board of Education for their consideration. Once the State Board of Education has approved a list of textbooks and instructional materials, districts follow procedures as set by the state to adopt these materials.

  • Math Adoption Review Materials

The WCS 2023 Math Adoption Committee voted to pare down the list of approved math instructional materials to review for final adoption by our school board later this Spring.  Williamson County math teachers will review 4 curriculum options per grade band and make a final recommendation to the textbook committee for adoption and implementation in the 2023-2024 school year.  This list contains the narrowed selection that Williamson County is reviewing for adoption along with links to each publisher’s digital review and a rubric provided by the Tennessee Department of Education evaluating each resource.

    Public Review Dates

Community members were invited to participate in the process of reviewing and adopting math textbooks and instructional materials for the 2023-24 school year.

Five public review sessions took place at 1761 West Main Street in Franklin throughout January and February. Materials being considered for adoption were made available to view, and community members had the opportunity to provide feedback. Curriculum specialists were at each session to answer questions.
