• Reconsideration of Instructional & Library Materials

Williamson County School Board policy 4.401 provides a process by which a current WCS parent, student, or teacher can challenge the use of instructional materials for the purpose of classroom instruction. The reconsideration committee’s decision is final and enforceable but may be appealed to the school board by the person or group asking for reconsideration of the instructional materials.

Library materials may also be challenged by a current WCS parent, student, or teacher following the procedures in Williamson County Board policy 4.403. The reconsideration committee makes a recommendation to the school board for removal or continued availability of the library materials. The school board is the final decision maker on the reconsideration of library materials.

The instructional and library materials listed below have been challenged for reconsideration for instructional and/or library use. The final decision regarding the use of the library materials is listed next to each title. Reconsidered instructional materials have recommendations that may include restrictions specific to grade levels or ages. The reports linked to the titles detail the reconsideration committee’s decision on the appropriate instructional use of the text.
