A Message from Dr. Barkley
Dear Brentwood Middle Parents,
We’ve had a fast and furious 4-day week at BMS! It is hard to believe we are already 5 weeks into the school year. Our 1st Nine Week Progress Reports were finalized and posted in Skyward Family Access. Please take some time this weekend to sit down with your child and review their grades in Skyward Family Access; I encourage you to discuss their performance thus far and set some goals for how they can continue to improve their grades over the next three and a half weeks. Please note that with Fall Break on October 8th and 9th, we only have 18 days remaining in the 1st Nine Weeks. If you have any questions regarding your child’s grades, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher. It is our goal to partner with you to do everything in our power to help your child reach their fullest potential in the 1st Nine Weeks.
It is our goal for all BMS students to get connected and participate in at least one extra-curricular activity. Please see the BMS Extracurricular Page for several clubs and opportunities getting ready to start. We also have a couple auditions coming up and over the next couple weeks. Please see the details on the Related Arts Page if your child is interested in auditioning for our fall play, Tuck Everlasting, or to be a part of our PowerHouse A Capella group. Thank you for helping your child get involved at BMS!
I want to congratulate all our student athletes and coaches on a great start to their seasons. Our varsity football team travelled to Page last week and took down the Panthers with a big 14-0 win. JV football also knocked off Spring Station earlier this week with a commanding 38-6 win. Our tennis teams also defeated Page, Grassland, and Heritage last week to continue their undefeated seasons. Congrats to our Cross-Country teams, as they defeated Hillsboro. Shout out to our golf teams for caging the Lions of Legacy Middle last week. Our volleyball teams had tough losses to Page, but we are so proud of these young ladies for their hard work and the dedication they’ve shown to keep fighting and getting better. Come out and support our athletic teams as they continue their seasons next week!
Please mark your calendar for one of our Fall Informational Parent Meetings coming up over the next few weeks. Our morning meeting will be on Wednesday, September 23rd, from 9:15 AM - 10:45 AM, and our evening meeting will be on Monday, September 28th, from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM. These meetings are designed to provide you all the information you need to help your child have a successful school year. We will discuss technology apps such as Schoology, Kami, Screencastify, and Zoom, and how you can best support your students in a face-to-face and remote learning environment this school year. We will also discuss topics such as THRIVE, PBIS Rewards, the A.I.D process, Skyward, the TCAP testing timeline, important dates for each grade level, how to stay connected at BMS, as well as student supports available to help our students find success this school year. These meetings are designed to provide you with everything you need to support your child at BMS this year. We hope to see you there!
