Library Visit
Each class has a scheduled time to receive library instruction, return books and select new ones. Individual students may come to check out books throughout the day with teacher permission.
-
Checkout Procedures
Students in Kindergarten may check out one book at a time. They may check out two books beginning in January. Students in first through fifth grade may check out three books at a time. They will be allowed to check out one additional book for research related projects. Students have daily access to the library and may come each day for a new book with teacher permission. Books may be renewed one time and then must be returned for others to enjoy.
-
Overdue/Lost Books
There is not a fine for overdue books. However, if a student has an overdue book, checkout privileges may be denied until the book is returned.
Books that have not surfaced in 30 days are presumed to be lost. An overdue bill with the replacement cost of the book will be sent home. If you find the book within thirty days, we will issue you a refund.
-
Damaged Books
Please return damaged books to the library for repair. Accidents can and do happen. Pets chew books, younger siblings color in them, water bottles leak, etc. Books damaged while checked out to a student will be assessed by the librarian to determine whether repairs can be made. A damage bill with replacement costs will be sent home for books damaged beyond repair. Should a page accidentally rip, please return the book to the library and we will repair the page with special tape.
