Extracurricular
Students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities. To learn more about a club or activity, select the name in the drop down below.
Student led clubs are initiated, created, and led by students at each individual school campus where the club is active. A student who wishes to organize a non-school sponsored, student led club must obtain prior written consent from the school principal. These clubs are not governed by school officials, but a club monitor is present at the time of student led club meetings held on school campuses. Parents or legal guardians must complete and sign the permission form to participate in a student-led club before their child may participate.
Visit WCS Board Policy 6.702 for detailed guidelines and rules about school sponsored and student led clubs, activities and organizations. Parents or legal guardians must notify an administrator in writing if the student is not permitted to become a member or participate in any activities of a club or organization. Pursuant to state law, the written communication shall be signed and dated by the parent or legal guardian.

Students who successfully complete their first year will be invited to participate in the Advanced Bands during their 7th and 8th grade years.

Creative Writing Club
The goal of the Creative Writing Club is to provide you with a safe place to write and share your stories with peers. Art is designed to be appreciated and shared. This is an opportunity for you to do just that along with harnessing, improving, and encouraging your abilities.
Through the course of the year, writers will have the opportunity to:
-
complete “quick writes” to practice and sharpen their skills;
-
receive constant advice and encouragement from a published author;
-
receive writing prompts to work on during club meetings and on their own time;
-
share what they have been independently working on if they choose;
-
take part in a progressive story in which all writers will take turns contributing to one story;
-
and be taught how to encourage each other while politely, and effectively, giving constructive criticism to their peers.
This is just a sample of the activities we will engage in during our meetings. I want this to be your club, driven by your interests. I am there to encourage, guide, and advise. You will not be judged on grammar or writing rules. You will, however, be expected to have fun and improve your craft.
