Guidance Counseling
-
Allendale’s school counselors work to help all students develop their full potential through a variety of services. Some of these services include facilitating classroom guidance, providing individual and small group counseling, assisting in conflict mediation, and coordinating Intervention and 504 meetings along with TN Ready testing.
Counselors are also available for parent consultations and can be contacted by email or phone. We are happy to serve the Allendale community!

Guidance Classes
Our Counselors also teach Guidance classes as part of the Specials rotation in the guidance classroom, alternating every-other rotation with Library classes.
Guidance lessons are based on Tennessee State Standards and focus on general areas of personal/social development, academic success and career introduction. Specific lessons are structured on topics such as, but not limited to: bullying, safety, careers, and character development.
-
Individual Counseling
Our Guidance Counselors are available to meet with students one-on-one for individual counseling needs. A student may be referred by teachers, parents, or self-referral.
If you feel that your student is in need of additional support to reach their potential socially, academically or personally please contact Mrs. Cochrane to express your concerns. We want Allendale to be a safe environment for all students, emotionally and physically.
-
Small Groups
Small groups of students (typically 3-6) who have similar needs meet throughout the school year with one of our Guidance Counselors in order to develop personal skills. This helps the students understand that they are not alone in dealing with difficult situations and that they can support each other. Small groups typically meet 6-8 sessions.

Character Development
The staff at Allendale use the PBIS System to build character in the students and create a positive school climate.
We also emphasize the 8 Keys of Excellence with our students to promote character growth.
