K-5 English Language Arts Curriculum

Williamson County Schools completed the first-year implementation of its K–5 English Language Arts (ELA) curriculum, Wit & Wisdom, during the 2020–21 school year. In Tennessee, instructional materials and academic standards are reviewed and updated on a cyclical basis. Following the adoption of revised Tennessee ELA standards by the State Board of Education in 2026, districts will begin preparing for adoption of new curriculum and implementation of the updated standards, both of which are scheduled to take effect in classrooms beginning in the 2029–30 school year.

Text and Materials

Text and materials used by ELA teachers are listed by grade level. Texts are used in a variety of ways including teacher read aloud, with a partner, independently, as well as entirely or abridged.
