Life Skill Counseling
Our School Counseling Program will provide a safe learning environment for each student in areas of academic, career, and social/emotional development by using the American School Counseling Association National School Counseling Standards and The Tennessee School Counseling Model in partnership with the community to prepare all students to become independent lifelong learners and responsible caring citizens.
How does your child experience school counseling services?
Individual Counseling – A safe and confidential environment is provided for students to discuss many topics regarding their social/emotional needs, career goals as well as academic success. Some topics that we may discuss include: friendship issues, stress, time management, goal-setting, academic planning, bullying, family changes, social skills, organization, career exploration and development of problem solving skills.
Classroom Counseling lessons– A K-5 classroom curriculum driven by national and state school counseling standards is developed and implemented. Classroom lessons are regularly scheduled and address social/emotional, academic, and career-related needs at the child’s developmental level.
Academic Interventions – Academic interventions are provided to enhance student success. I work individually with students on their time management skills, study skills and organization. I occasionally conduct classroom observations to see how the students are implementing what we have talked about.
