Fine Art Programs at Franklin High

Franklin High provides each student with the opportunity to fully immerse themselves into the arts. And along the way, passion and talents are unveiled as students are free to express themselves as individuals. Our award winning Fine Arts offers something of interest for every student.

Dance

Dance is a new arts program beginning its second year at Franklin High. Students will learn movement elements and skills in performing dance, choreography,  and dance as a way to create and communicate meaning while making connections between dance and healthful living. Courses offered are Dance I, II and Dance Ensemble.

Instrumental Music

Instrumental Music has many great courses to choose from. Students may choose one of the Band classes including Freshman Band, Percussion, Symphonic, or Wind Ensemble. The Franklin High Marching Band is a high-profile, much awarded, nationally recognized, ensemble that enjoys a reputation for musical excellence. Orchestra, Classical Piano, Music IB or Music Theory AP are also options for musically inclined students.

For information contact the FHS Band Director, David Aydelott.

Theatre Arts

Franklin High has a fun and colorful Theatre department. Students will have opportunities to perform in two plays per year–one musical, as well as host and perform in Open Mic. Students will learn stage performance, make-up, lighting, directing, set design and many more aspects to Theatrical Arts. Students may choose to follow a sequential program to satisfy the focus area for graduation taking a minimum of three and up to four courses from Theatre Arts I – IV.

For information about Theatre Arts contact Mark Saltalamachia.

Visual Arts

The Franklin High Visual Arts courses attract incredibly talented artists every year. Students may choose to pursue a sequential program in Fine Arts as their focus area for graduation. This path may culminate with Studio Art AP in which students prepare a portfolio of work used for applying to colleges. Courses include Visual Arts I and II, Studio Art AP and Visual Art IB.

For information contact art teachers Michael Boyle or Rachel Berzina.

Vocal Music

The exceptional choral program at FHS has three choirs that perform a wide variety of repertoire ranging from Classical to Pop music. The choirs perform at concerts on and off campus and at competitions, many time receiving superior ratings. Students may choose Chorus: Concert Choir for freshmen, Chorus: Chorale for sophomore through seniors and Chorus: Chamber Choir.
