STARS (Students Taking A Right Stand) exists to serve schools and communities by providing prevention and intervention services addressing bullying, substance abuse, violence and social and emotional barriers to success. Through classroom presentations and group or individual counseling sessions, STARS provides education in preventing and confronting these difficult challenges. Students can be referred to STARS by teachers, parents, administrators, friends and by self- referral. If you feel that your student would benefit from STARS services you may contact me at 472-4430, ext.6459. All referrals are confidential unless otherwise specified.

Services Provided:

Individual Counseling
Counselors meet with students for confidential individual counseling to address academic, personal, and career concerns. Parents and teachers may refer students, but many students come in on their own. By helping students to identify their own personal strengths, we work with students on learning how to make decisions, set goals, overcome obstacles, and cope with challenges

Small Group Counseling
We offer small group counseling on a variety of topics as needed, such as study skills, friendship, stress and anxiety, transitioning to a new school, and family situations such as divorce and remarriage. Parents, teachers, and students should speak to a counselor to inquire about available groups.

I am so excited to be working with the students at Fairview Middle School this year. Originally, I am from Florida and have lived in Tennessee for the past eight years. I love spending time with my family, traveling and enjoying the outdoors. I have two wonderful children: Katelyn who is 13 and Matthew who is 8.  My Master’s degree is in School Counseling. I have been a school counselor for over 10 years and love helping students succeed in all aspects of their lives.
