JROTC compete in Raider Competitions:
This weekend the Fairview High School Raiders went down to Soddy-Daisy Tennessee to compete in the Raider State Championships. There were 35 teams competing for the prize, the title of State Champion. To earn the title Raiders would have to compete in eight events that challenged each Raiders physical and mental toughness. There were hundreds of athletes and hundreds more family members and Raider fans. It was a great day.
Fairview competed with two teams at the State Championships. First was the Co-Ed Team which is composed of 13 Raiders. It includes 8 males and 5 females. The next team was the all-male team which was composed of 13 male Raiders. Fairview does not have an all-female team this year.
The Yellow Jacket Raiders held their own during the state competition placing 3rd overall in the competition. Only 5 points separated 1st place from 3rd. The Co-Ed earned the title of State Champions in the One Rope Bridge and Cross-Country Rescue events, they earned 2nd in the Steeple Chase Event, and 3rd in the Gauntlet. The Male team placed earned the title of State Champions in the First Aid event and 2nd in the One Rope Bridge Event. This is the first time Fairview had both teams compete and place in events.
