Good evening Fairview families – Per the state of TN, students will be acknowledged at graduation for volunteer hours served while in high school. The policy reads that if a student completes 10 hours of community service PER semester in public high school, they will meet the needed criteria. This does go into effect immediately. This means that, for the Class of 2018, 10 hours would need to be completed before the end of December 2017 and an additional 10 hours completed before graduation. To further clarify Class of 2018 would complete 2 semesters, Class of 2019 — 4 semesters, Class of 2020 – 6 semesters and so on. We have generated a google form that can be found on the FvHS website and will also be posted on Message Center. Volunteer hours MUST be reported on the google doc by a student. This will be the only way volunteer hours are reported and tracked. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s school counselor.

Fairview High Geography teacher Jessica Clouse has been named a 2017 American Geographical Society Geography Teacher Fellow!!!!
Beginning in the 2017-2018 school year all high schools will implement the Checkpoints Program for new student drivers wishing to operate and park a vehicle on school grounds. Checkpoints is a training course deigned to reduce injury and fatalities due to risky driving. Once students have met all of the state requirements, completed the Checkpoints Program training, and created a “Checkpoints” parent/teen driving agreement, they will be eligible for a school parking permit.
This Spring Semester there will be 4 dates for Checkpoints Driving Training for all new drivers on campus. Please remember if you are a new driver who has not drove to school previously you must attend this training before a parking pass can be purchased from student services. The hour long training requires that both student and parent/guardian attend. Below you will find the dates for this semester’s training. All dates begin at 6 in the FHS Media Center.
