We are excited to announce our third annual Career Day event and would love for you to share your career with students here at Hunters Bend. Last year we were excited to learn from over 30 professionals and hope to expand that number this year! We are looking forward to students meeting many special guests who will share their time and experiences at Hunters Bend Elementary Career Day!
Career Day will be in the gym for third, fourth, and fifth grade classes. Students will rotate along rows of tables where presenters will share their careers so that students may understand the significance of the math, reading, science and interpersonal skills they are learning now in elementary school. As students talk with professionals, they will complete their Career Day Passport with facts to discuss and share later.
Presenters may set-up at 8:30, and the first group of students will begin at 8:50. We will conclude at 11:25. If you are interested in volunteering to share your career with students email Lee.Boone@wcs.edu.
Children and Internet Safety Program October 17
On October 17 at 6:30 PM, Hunters Bend will host the Children and Internet Safety I-Guardian Program at 6:30 PM. Video games, apps, and social media are a part of everyday life that can provide increasing challenges to parents trying to balance modern technology with internet safety. Project I-Guardian is an eye-opening presentation that provides parents with vital information about keeping children safe online. Project I-Guardian is presented by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and is “designed to inform youths, parents, and educators about the risks that children face in the online environment.” We hope you can join us for this valuable presentation.
