School Counseling

Mrs. Monroe wears a lot of hats: a listening ear, student advocate, parent-teacher conference facilitator, classroom presenter, community outreach coordinator, etc.  A guidance counselor serves the needs of the whole student; this can be academically, socially, and/or emotionally.  The school counselor serves all of HEMS K-8.

Your STARS counselor exists to serve schools and communities by providing prevention, intervention and treatment services addressing: bullying, substance abuse, violence, and social and emotional barriers preventing students from becoming successful individuals. The STARS counselor works primarily with our middle school students and will be running our STARS student leadership team.

If you are a student who is looking to get involved in a fun, service oriented group that helps make Hillsboro and your community a better place, STARS Student Leadership Team is the perfect organization for you!

If you are a member you will:

*Help create prevention programs and activities that focus on creating a safe school environment.

*Participate in community service and enrichment projects.

*Be a positive role model to your peers.

It’s easy……..

Your best bet is always to start with your student’s teachers.  They see your student on a daily basis and will have the most up to date information for you.  You also have access to your student’s grades through family access.
