January 12, 2012

It's time to get excited about the second semester.  We hope you had a wonderful and relaxing holiday break and are ready to start 2012 off right.  Don't forget, students will be out of school Monday, January 16 as we observe Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

In this issue of IN FOCUS, Superintendent Mike Looney delivers an important MESSAGE for Williamson County parents and students, the District expands its reach into the world of social media with the launch of an official WCS FACEBOOK PAGE and the County Commission selects a new SCHOOL BOARD member.

Some of the other stories you'll find in this issue contain important district information. We'll tell you how the WCS Food Service Department is working to make sure every student has access to a HEALTHY BREAKFAST. Plus, the School Board will soon adopt new TEXTBOOKS.  Find out how you can view them first.  And we'll share with you the results of a recent SURVEY regarding the budget process.

As always, be sure to check out the IN FOCUS PHOTO GALLERY, which features snapshots from schools across the district.  Plus, several Williamson County students were honored recently with STUDENT SPOTLIGHT awards. And find out what people are talking about in this week's RUMOR MILL.

We hope you enjoy all this issue of IN FOCUS has to offer.  Please encourage others to SIGN UP for IN FOCUS so they can keep on top of what's going on inside Williamson County Schools.  All they need to do is send us an EMAIL letting us know they'd like to begin receiving IN FOCUS.  The next issue will be released January 26.
