April 12, 2012

Mark your calendar!  Only two dates remain for the district's Let's Talk School community meetings.  The next one will be held Tuesday, April 17 at 6 p.m. in the Fairview Middle School Library.  The final meeting will take place Thursday, April 19 at 6 p.m. in the Brentwood High School Library.  We encourage parents and community members to attend these sessions so they can share their thoughts or questions with district leaders.

Speaking of Let's Talk School, we've put together an EXCITING VIDEO which highlights some of the district's recent accomplishments.  The video is being shown before each community meeting.  We hope you enjoy it!  Some of the other videos you'll find in this issue of IN FOCUS include a look at how students with special needs are gaining valuable WORK EXPERIENCE, and the story behind a radio station's SURPRISE APPEARANCE at Brentwood High School.

It's time to start planning for the summer.   We have information regarding numerous SUMMER CAMP opportunities, including the 2012 SACC SUMMER DAY CAMP and the inaugural Williamson County SHOW CHOIR CAMP.  You'll also find information about high school GRADUATION dates and this month's RAVENWOOD RUNWAY fashion show.  Parents, business leaders and community members are invited to attend a special event happening later this month called COMMUNITY CONVERSATION.  We'll tell you all about that.  Plus, learn how students at Brentwood Middle School volunteered their time to help ANIMALS IN NEED.

Also in this issue, we'll tell you about five Williamson County students who are getting recognized for all the right reasons in our ACADEMIC ALL-STARS section.  Be sure to check out our AWARDS & ACCOLADES section for information about numerous other students and their recent accomplishments.  We tackle questions regarding BYOT and summer school in this week's RUMOR MILL.  Plus, you'll find a list of upcoming performances including Woodland Middle School's The Music Man in our MUSIC/THEATER section.

We hope you enjoy all this issue of IN FOCUS has to offer.  Please encourage others to SIGN UP for IN FOCUS so they can keep on top of what's going on inside Williamson County Schools.  All they need to do is send us an EMAIL letting us know they'd like to begin receiving IN FOCUS.  The next issue will be released April 26.
