ISSUE 23
 July 19, 2012

IN THIS ISSUE...

The countdown continues! We're about three weeks from the start of the 2012-13 school year. Williamson County students will return to the classroom for a half day on Friday, August 10.

In the meantime, dozens of boys and girls are staying busy by participating in some of the district's exciting summer activities, like the new Williamson County SHOW CHOIR CAMP and ESL SUMMER SCHOOL. We'll take you inside each event and show you how they're keeping students engaged.  Plus, we'll take you on a trip to the CoolSprings Galleria to see the district's KIOSK and show you how an exciting program is helping teachers learn new methods for teaching SCIENCE AND MATH.

Some of the other stories you'll find in this issue of IN FOCUS include information about TCAP and EOC TEST RESULTS, before and after school CHILD CARE REGISTRATION, and details regarding the district new PARENT PORTAL.  We'll also update you on the effort to develop a WORLD LANGUAGE curriculum and introduce you to some of the district's NEWEST EMPLOYEES.

This issue of IN FOCUS also features three new additions to our Getting Connected with BYOT video series.  The first one examines PROPER USAGE OF BYOT; the second video explains how BYOT will be used in ELEMENTARY CLASSROOMS; and the third addresses some of the MISCONCEPTIONS regarding BYOT.

And don't forget to check out our News You Can Use which includes information about FREE AND REDUCED PRICE MEALS, UPCOMING EVENTS and the always popular RUMOR MILL.

We hope you enjoy all this issue of IN FOCUS has to offer. Please encourage others to sign up for IN FOCUS so they can keep on top of what's going on inside Williamson County Schools. All they need to do is send us an EMAIL letting us know they'd like to begin receiving IN FOCUS. The special Back to School issue of IN FOCUS will be released August 2.
