November 10, 2011

It's hard to believe, but November is already here and that means Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away. Friday, November 18 will be a half day for students due to staff development.  There will be no school November 21-25 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.  Students will not return to the classroom until November 28.

We have several videos for you to enjoy this week.  In the first one, we'll take you to the Williamson County Ag Expo Center where dozens of high school students got a lesson in law enforcement at a CRIMINAL JUSTICE DAY event.  Then we'll show you how students at Winstead Elementary celebrated the school's 10 year anniversary with an old fashioned BUCKET BRIGADE.

Some of the other stories you'll find in this issue of IN FOCUS include an OPEN LETTER from Superintendent Mike Looney, information about a new program that will be used to test students' FITNESS LEVELS, and details regarding a BIG DONATION to Franklin High School's culinary arts program.  We also have several stories that highlight some of the ways students are making a difference including one school's participation in a project called OPERATION GRATITUDE.

Want to know the latest regarding construction of a new high school in the Nolensville area?  Check out the RUMOR MILL.  Plus, we recognize two more ACADEMIC ALL-STARS this week.  And wait until you see what some of our food service workers came up with at this year's pumpkin carving contest in our PICTURE OF THE WEEK.

We hope you enjoy all this issue of IN FOCUS has to offer.  Please encourage others to SIGN UP for IN FOCUS so they can keep on top of what's going on inside Williamson County Schools.  All they need to do is send us an EMAIL letting us know they'd like to begin receiving IN FOCUS.
