Sign Up for IN FOCUS

 August 2, 2012

In just eight days, bells will ring to start off the 2012-13 school year in Williamson County.  Friday, August 10 will be a half day for Williamson County students.  This issue of IN FOCUS is full of important information for parents as they prepare their kids for the start of school, including a BACK TO SCHOOL MESSAGE from WCS Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney.

Williamson County Schools has plenty to celebrate as we start the school year.  Last week, the district was informed of the 2012 TCAP RESULTS and learned it is once again number one in the state in terms of academic achievement.  This issue of IN FOCUS also features an important MESSAGE TO THE COMMUNITY in regards to the Tennessee Department of Education's accountability system.

Some of the other stories you'll find in this issue include BUS ROUTE info, START & DISMISSAL TIMES and changes for the district's ONLINE MEAL PAYMENT SYSTEM.  Parents can also learn how to register for BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL CARE or sign up for ADULT EDUCATION classes.

This issue of IN FOCUS also features an important BYOT REMINDER for parents and students along with the final two installments in our Getting Connected with BYOT video series.  In addition to those stories, we have an alert for parents regarding IMMUNIZATIONS, a couple of new questions for the RUMOR MILL and an important reminder about this weekend's TAX HOLIDAY.  But before you start shopping, make sure you know what's on your child's school SUPPLY LIST.

We hope you enjoy all this issue of IN FOCUS has to offer. Please encourage others to sign up for IN FOCUS so they can keep on top of what's going on inside Williamson County Schools. All they need to do is send us an EMAIL letting us know they'd like to begin receiving IN FOCUS. The next issue of IN FOCUS will be released August 16.
