IN THIS ISSUE...

Sensational students, terrific teachers and fantastic fathers headline this week's issue of IN FOCUS.  We have four videos for you to enjoy.  In the first one, we'll take you to Westwood Elementary School where a group of SENIOR CITIZENS are volunteering their time to help children improve their reading skills.  Plus, find out how Independence High School's MEDIA PROGRAM is teaching students valuable skills that will translate to the real world.  Second graders at Hunters Bend Elementary School are learning about cultural diversity.  We'll show you how they recently celebrated the Chinese NEW YEAR.  And the Super Bowl is always one of the biggest events of the year.  We'll show you how the staff at Allendale Elementary School used the occasion to CELEBRATE DADS.

It's no secret that Williamson County Schools is home to many talented students and staff.  This year, 18 students were named NATIONAL MERIT FINALISTS.  We'll tell you who they are.  Plus, the district's top educators were honored earlier this month at the annual TEACHERS OF THE YEAR ceremony.  And find out which Brentwood Middle School teacher was recently given a NATIONAL AWARD.  Some of the other stories you'll find in this issue of IN FOCUS include high school graduation DATES AND TIMES, information regarding a GRADUATION EVENT at Franklin High School, and a list of frequently asked questions for the parents of students who will attend SUMMIT HIGH SCHOOL in the fall.

The hit country music group The Band Perry will join other performers for a special event at Ravenwood High School.  Find out the details in our MUSIC/THEATER section.  Plus, from snow days to bus routes, find out what people are talking about in this week's RUMOR MILL.  And three more students were recently named ACADEMIC ALL-STARS.  We'll tell you why they were chosen for this special honor.

We hope you enjoy all this issue of IN FOCUS has to offer.  Please encourage others to sign up for IN FOCUS so they can keep on top of what's going on inside Williamson County Schools.  All they need to do is send us an EMAIL letting us know they'd like to begin receiving IN FOCUS.  The next issue will come out March 3.
