Issue 16
March 17, 2011

The weather's warmer, the days are longer and that annual event known as Spring Break is right around the corner.  Williamson County students will be out of school Friday, March 18 for a district-wide professional development day.  Spring Break will begin March 21 and last through March 25.  Students will return to the classroom March 28.

This week's issue of IN FOCUS features seven video stories.  The first one comes to us from Hillsboro School in Leiper's Fork where Tennessee Governor BILL HASLAM recently paid a visit.  Plus, find out how a new event is helping students at Chapman's Retreat Elementary School improve their MATH SKILLS.  And have you ever wondered what the world would be like if children were in charge?  Find out when students from Fairview and Pinewood elementary schools pay a visit to JA BIZTOWN

Some of the other video stories in this issue of IN FOCUS include a collection of sights and sounds from READ ACROSS AMERICA Week and the grand opening of the annual WILLIAMSON COUNTY ART SHOW.  Speaking of art, Middle College High School is home to one of the district's most talented ART PROGRAMS.  Hear what students there have to say about this special class. And last but not least, we'll show you how students at Sunset Middle School are using cartoons to help them learn about SCIENCE.

This issue of IN FOCUS also features articles on the WCS BUDGET, DESTINATION IMAGINATION and the REGIONAL TEACHER OF THE YEAR.  Plus, find out which students were named this week's ACADEMIC ALL-STARS

We hope you enjoy all this issue of IN FOCUS has to offer.  Please encourage others to sign up for IN FOCUS so they can keep on top of what's going on inside Williamson County Schools.  All they need to do is send us an EMAIL letting us know they'd like to begin receiving IN FOCUS.  The next issue will come out March 31.
