Issue 19
April 28, 2011

We have several videos for you to enjoy this week.  First, we'll take you to Brentwood Middle School where sixth graders are learning about the engineering process by designing their very own EGGONAUTS.  Then, we'll head to Page Middle School and show you how a unique after school club is teaching students to ROCK OUT.

Prom season is finally here.  Find out how teachers at Ravenwood High School are educating students about having a fun - and safe - PROM EXPERIENCE.  Plus, hundreds of Williamson County students, staff and parents put a focus on fitness this winter and participated in the annual WCS ACTIVITY CONTEST. We'll tell you which school won.  And everyone loves a parade, including the students at Longview Elementary School.  We'll show you how a recent celebration helped them gear up for this year's TCAP TESTS.

Also in this issue, WCS Superintendent Mike Looney answers a list of questions submitted by parents at last week's LET'S TALK SCHOOL meeting; WCS honors the district's top VOLUNTEERS; and we celebrate two new ACADEMIC ALL-STARS.  Plus, hundreds of students from schools across the district are getting ready for Friday night's ING KiDS ROCK MARATHON in Nashville.  And find out how some local businesses are working to make this year's PROJECT GRADUATION the best ever.

Be sure and check out our MUSIC/THEATER section for information about several upcoming performances including Sunset Middle School's production of Annie Jr. and Spring Station Middle School's program Back to the 80's.  Plus, we have a whole slew of new faces featured in our STUDENT and STAFF Spotlight sections, as well as snapshots from schools across the county in our PHOTO GALLERY.

We hope you enjoy all this issue of IN FOCUS has to offer.  Please encourage others to sign up for IN FOCUS so they can keep on top of what's going on inside Williamson County Schools.  All they need to do is send us an EMAIL letting us know they'd like to begin receiving IN FOCUS.  The next issue will come out May 12.
