Issue 21
May 26, 2011

School is out and summer break is in full effect, but here at IN FOCUS we'll continue to keep you caught up on all the things happening throughout the district.  In this issue, we'll take you to Page High School where students watched first responders in action during EMS DAY.  Plus, eighth graders at Sunset Middle School spent weeks working on their projects for the annual ACADEMIC FAIR.  We'll show you what they came up with.

Students in Jenny Stevenson's class at Spring Station Middle School are encouraging their classmates to REDUCE, REUSE & RECYCLE.  We'll explain how.  And for once, the cutest faces at Woodland Middle School didn't belong to the students.  That's because dozens of adorable cats and dogs recently visited Woodland Middle School for PET ADOPTION Day.

Some of the other stories you'll find in this issue of IN FOCUS include the latest on the district BUDGET PROCESS, information regarding changes to STUDENT FEES and the dates and times for this weekend's GRADUATION CEREMONIES. Three Williamson County high schools are ranked among the best in the nation according to a new study.  We'll tell you which schools MADE THE LIST.  Plus, we'll explain why an EXCLUSIVE CLUB has students at one local elementary school in a frenzy to read as many books as possible.  And speaking of books, we'll let you know which school won this year's BATTLE OF THE BOOKS competition.

Find out what parents are talking about in this week's RUMOR MILL as we address questions regarding TCAP, block scheduling and volunteer procedures.  Also in this issue, we recognize the final three ACADEMIC ALL-STARS of the 2010-11 school year and the Williamson County School Board honors a new crop of STUDENT SPOTLIGHT and STAFF SPOTLIGHT award winners.

We hope you enjoy all this issue of IN FOCUS has to offer.  Please encourage others to sign up for IN FOCUS so they can keep on top of what's going on inside Williamson County Schools.  All they need to do is send us an EMAIL letting us know they'd like to begin receiving IN FOCUS.  The next issue will come out June 9.
