This issue of IN FOCUS features four videos.  In the first one, you'll hear from the future WCS DIRECTOR OF SCHOOLS as he discusses his goals for the district.  Plus, we'll explain how Williamson County middle schools are changing the way they teach science by taking a more HANDS-ON APPROACH.  Teachers at Heritage Middle School are trying something new by separating the boys' and girls' MATH CLASSES.  We'll explain the reason behind the change.  And find out how a cross-cultural simulation is helping students at Kenrose Elementary School learn about DIVERSITY.

This issue of IN FOCUS also features plenty of important district information regarding PROGRESS REPORTS, PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES and the EXPLORE TEST.  The 2008 WCS COLLEGE FAIR is right around the corner.  We have all the details.  Plus, two of Williamson County's newest elementary schools are in need of a name.  Find out how you can NAME THAT SCHOOL.  And we have important information for parents with concerns about the flu.  We'll explain how a new FLU HOTLINE is helping to answer questions regarding both the H1N1 and seasonal flu.  Also this issue, find out how a generous donation by one Franklin-based company is helping to IMPROVE SCHOOL SAFETY.

There are dozens of activities happening across the county.  Be sure and check out the FUNDRAISER section to find out what's going on in your neck of the woods.  We also have several upcoming performances listed in the MUSIC/THEATRE section including the 2009 Williamson County Exhibition of Bands.  Get a glimpse of life inside the classroom with our PHOTO GALLERY.  Inside, you'll find snapshots of students and teachers from schools across the county.  Plus, take a look at what some of Williamson County's most creative minds have accomplished in the STUDENT ART section.

Please remind folks to SIGN UP to receive IN FOCUS, and SEND US any comments or suggestions you might have.  The next issue of IN FOCUS will be released October 1.
