IN THIS ISSUE...

Autumn is finally here and the first quarter grading period will soon come to an end.  Students have plenty to be excited about these days. In addition to all the homecoming events and festivals, Fall Break is only a few weeks away.  Students will have Monday, October 19 and Tuesday, October 20 off, giving both them and their teachers a well-deserved break.

This issue of IN FOCUS features a total of four videos.  In the first one, we'll take you to Grassland Elementary School for a special occasion dedicated to GRANDPARENTS.  Plus, travel back in time as the students at Walnut Grove learn all about history with an annual event known as MEDIEVAL DAY.  See performances from each Williamson County high school marching band at the district's annual WCS BAND EXHIBITION.  And find out what's happening in the world of Williamson County athletics with the WCS SPORTS REPORT.

In other news happening around the district, the district's new DIRECTOR OF SCHOOLS makes it official.  Also this week, information for people interested in being a part of this year's World of Possibilities CAREER FAIR, and Franklin High School prepares to celebrate a SPECIAL MILESTONE.  What names would you give to the county's newest elementary schools?  The School Board would like to know, so be sure and SUBMIT YOUR IDEAS before it's too late.

Are you looking for something to do?  You'll find several upcoming performances listed in the MUSIC/THEATRE section including Ravenwood's production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer's Night Dream.  Plus, get a glimpse of life inside the classroom with our PHOTO GALLERY.  Inside, you'll find snapshots of students and teachers from schools across the county.  And a local student scores a perfect 36 on the ACT exam.  Find out who he is in our STUDENT SPOTLIGHT

Please remind folks to SIGN UP to receive IN FOCUS, and SEND US any comments or suggestions you might have.  The next issue of IN FOCUS will be released October 15.
