Williamson County Schools Support United Way

November 12, 2009

It's hard to believe, but November is already here and that means Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away.  Remember, there will be no school for Williamson County students November 25-27 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.  Students will not return to the classroom until November 30.

We have several videos for you to enjoy this week.  In the first one, Titans linebacker KEITH BULLUCK makes a special visit to Bethesda Elementary School.  We'll explain why.  Plus, students in the CULINARY ARTS program at Franklin High School learn how to prepare food for 700 hungry children at Grassland Elementary.  In Brentwood, students at Scales Elementary School are developing a passion for music by participating in the school's first-ever STRING ENSEMBLE.  We'll show you why it's become such a hit.  And fifth graders at Sunset Elementary School search for hidden artifacts at one of Williamson County's most HISTORIC HOMES.  Round two of the high school football playoffs is set to begin.  Find out which teams will see action this Friday in the WCS SPORTS REPORT.

Some of the other stories you'll find in this issue of IN FOCUS include a ZONING PREVIEW, information regarding H1N1 FLU vaccinations and details concerning an special reception for the district's new SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS.  Plus, a BEST-SELLING AUTHOR visits students at Heritage Middle School and the kids at Woodland Middle throw a special HALLOWEEN PARTY for the patients at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.

The students at Independence High School begin performances of The Wizard of Oz this week.  Check out the dates and times as well as information regarding many other performances across the district in our MUSIC/THEATRE section.  Plus, you'll find nearly five dozen snapshots from Williamson County schools in our PHOTO GALLERY.

As always, please remind folks to SIGN UP to receive IN FOCUS, and SEND US any comments or suggestions you might have.  The next issue of IN FOCUS will be released December 3.
