Happy Holidays from IN FOCUS!  Winter break is almost here.  The first semester will officially come to an end Friday, December 18, which will be a half day for students.  Students and teachers will enjoy two full weeks of vacation before classes resume Monday, January 4.

In the meantime, we have plenty to tell you about in this issue of IN FOCUS.  First off, be sure to check out the sights and sounds from HOLIDAY PROGRAMS at schools across the district.  Plus, students at Centennial High School recently competed to see which group could come up with the best BUSINESS IDEA.  We'll tell you which idea won.  And the president of a national organization devoted to MATH EDUCATION recently made a special stop at two Williamson County schools.  We'll explain why.  Also, find out which high school basketball teams will be hitting the hard-court this weekend in the WCS SPORTS REPORT

Some of the other stories you'll find in this issue of IN FOCUS include the latest information on ZONING and details on how you can purchase a new book which looks back on 100 years of education at FRANKLIN HIGH SCHOOL.  Plus, see how Winstead Elementary's PAAW PROGRAM is keeping kids entertained and active.  And learn the history behind the name of west Franklin's new school PEARRE CREEK ELEMENTARY.

Be sure and check out the IN FOCUS PHOTO GALLERY, which features snapshots from schools across the district.  Plus, find out which Williamson County students were recently honored with a STUDENT SPOTLIGHT.  And high schools are already preparing for their spring musicals.  You'll find a list of some of the upcoming performances in our MUSIC/THEATRE section.  And don't forget to check out the CONSTRUCTION UPDATE for a look at what kind of progress is being made on several new schools across the district.

Please encourage others to sign up for IN FOCUS to keep on top of what's going on inside Williamson County Schools.  All they need to do is send us an EMAIL letting us know they'd like to begin receiving IN FOCUS.  The next issue of IN FOCUS will come out January 7.
