The month of March is finally here, bringing with it warmer weather, longer days and the official start of Spring.  But that's not all we have to look forward to this month.  Williamson County students will have the day off Monday, March 8 as teachers and administrators work on staff development.  The following day, all high school juniors will take the ACT EXAM, which is not only the nation's most widely accepted college entrance exam, but also a graduation requirement for Williamson County students.

This issue of IN FOCUS features a special tribute to our nation's 44 presidents and first ladies.  Students at Oak View Elementary School honored the first families February 19 with an annual event called DEAR ABBY.  Plus, schools across the district celebrated READ ACROSS AMERICA this week.  Find out which local celebrities volunteered their time to read to Williamson County students.

It might seem strange but at Lipscomb Elementary, students actually enjoy staying after school.  We'll show you how AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS are providing all sorts of enrichment opportunities for the kids.  Plus, eighth graders at Brentwood Middle School are learning what life is like after college.  We'll explain how an interactive experience called THE REAL GAME is preparing them for the future.  And it's the only class of its kind in the district.  We'll take you inside the AUDIO TECHNOLOGY course at Middle College High School and show you how it's helping students learn the ins and outs of the music industry.

Some of the other stories you'll find in this issue of IN FOCUS include important information about new IMMUNIZATION requirements, high school GRADUATION dates and details regarding the Williamson County ART SHOW.  Plus, you will definitely want to check out the new CENSUS PSA which was written and performed by students at Woodland Middle School.

Please encourage others to sign up for IN FOCUS to keep on top of what's going on inside Williamson County Schools.  All they need to do is send us an EMAIL letting us know they'd like to begin receiving IN FOCUS.  The next issue will come out March 18.
