ISSUE 16
March 18, 2010

IN THIS ISSUE...

Spring is in the air and it won't be long before Williamson County students and staff enjoy a week off for Spring Break.  This year, Spring Break will begin Friday, April 2 and last through April 9.  Students will return to the classroom Monday, April 12.

This issue of IN FOCUS features four videos.  In the first one, we'll take you to Spring Hill for a special sneak peak at SPRING STATION Middle School.  Plus, find out how technology is helping students at Sunset Elementary learn about CHINESE CULTURE.  The DESTINATION IMAGINATION regional tournament was held recently.  We'll present you with some of the sights and sounds and let you know which Williamson County teams will advance to the State competition.  And find out how a process called SCOPE AND SEQUENCE is helping teachers prepare for the 2010-2011 school year.

Some of the other stories you'll find in this issue of IN FOCUS include information about a series of PUBLIC MEETINGS with WCS Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney and a timeline of events regarding the 2010-2011 BUDGET.  Plus, a principal has been named for the district's new HIGH SCHOOL set to open in 2011.  Find out who it is.  And speaking of the new high school, the district needs your help PICKING A NAME.  Learn how to submit your ideas.

There are a number of school plays and musicals that will take place in the coming weeks including Brentwood Middle School's production of Annie Jr. and Grassland Middle School's production of CSI: Neverland.  Be sure and check out our MUSIC/THEATRE section for all the details.  Plus, the PHOTO GALLERY features dozens of snapshots from across the district.  And we have several new entries in our STUDENT SPOTLIGHT section, so you'll want to check them out as well.

We hope you enjoy all this issue of IN FOCUS has to offer.  Please encourage others to sign up for IN FOCUS to keep on top of what's going on inside Williamson County Schools.  All they need to do is send us an EMAIL letting us know they'd like to begin receiving IN FOCUS.  The next issue will come out April 1.
