Autumn is finally here and the first quarter grading period will be coming to an end soon.  Students have plenty to be excited about these days.  In addition to all the homecoming events and festivals, Fall Break is just a few weeks away.  Students will have Monday, October 18 and Tuesday, October 19 off, giving both them and their teachers a well-deserved break.

This issue of IN FOCUS features a total of three videos.  In the first one, we'll show you how students at Scales Elementary School are helping out underprivileged students in Nashville through an event called the MUSTANG CLOSET.  Our second video comes to us from Crockett Elementary School where Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen made a recent visit to celebrate IMAGINATION LIBRARY Week.  And last but not least, we'll show you performances from each Williamson County high school marching band as they entertained audiences at the WCS EXHIBITION OF BANDS.

Other stories you'll find in this issue of IN FOCUS include the latest on the district-wide REZONING process, a reminder for parents regarding new IMMUNIZATION forms and information for people interested in being a part of this year's World of Possibilities CAREER FAIR.  Plus, six Williamson County SCHOOL BOARD members were recently sworn into office.  And there's been a change to the hours in which school volunteers can undergo their FINGERPRINT background checks.

This week's RUMOR MILL features questions regarding hot topics like school uniforms, future construction and the district's grandfather policy.  Be sure to check it out.  We also have several upcoming performances listed in the MUSIC/THEATRE section including Ravenwood's production of Metamorphoses.  Get a glimpse of life inside the classroom with our PHOTO GALLERY.  Inside, you'll find snapshots of students and teachers from schools across the county.

We hope you enjoy all this issue of IN FOCUS has to offer.  Please encourage others to sign up for IN FOCUS so they can keep on top of what's going on inside Williamson County Schools.  All they need to do is send us an EMAIL letting us know they'd like to begin receiving IN FOCUS.  The next issue will be released October 14.
