IN THIS ISSUE...

This issue of IN FOCUS features four videos.  In the first one, you'll get to study the wonderful WORLD OF SCIENCE with the students from Crockett Elementary School.  Plus, we'll take you inside Independence High School's new BIOTECH PROGRAM and explain how it is introducing both students and adults to one of the fastest growing careers in the state.  If you missed out on any high school football during the last two weeks, we'll get you caught up with the WCS SPORTS REPORT.  And find out how you can honor a favorite teacher by nominating him or her for the WC-TV TEACHER FEATURE.

Attention all high school seniors!  The 2008 WCS COLLEGE NIGHT is right around the corner.  We have all the details.  Plus, Williamson County's newest middle school is in need of a name.  Find out how you can NAME THAT SCHOOL.  And we have important information for parents who want to monitor their child's academic progress.  We'll explain how to sign up for a new program called PARENT CONNECTION.  Also this issue, find out how the WORLD'S LARGEST RETAILER is helping programs at several Williamson County schools.

The Williamson County SCHOOL BOARD features a couple of new faces, and find out why two students from Scales Elementary School recently traveled to the REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION.  Some of the other stories you'll find in this issue of IN FOCUS include a closer look at what defines the HEALTH OF A CHILD, details about a workshop for MOTHERS AND DAUGHTERS and information about EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES with Williamson County Schools.

There are dozens of activities happening across the county.  Be sure and check out the FUNDRAISER section to find out what's going on in your neck of the woods.  You'll find everything from car shows, to concerts, to family fun nights.  We also have several upcoming performances listed in the MUSIC/THEATRE section including Ravenwood's production of the Oscar Wilde play The Importance of Being Earnest.

Get a glimpse of life inside the classroom with our PHOTO GALLERY.  Inside, you'll find snapshots of students and teachers from schools across the county.  Plus, take a look at what some of Williamson County's most creative minds have accomplished in the STUDENT ART section.  And this month's STUDENT SPOTLIGHT features a few new faces.

Please remind folks to SIGN UP to receive IN FOCUS, and SEND US any comments or suggestions you might have.  The next issue of IN FOCUS will be released October 9.
