ISSUE 8
November 20, 2008

IN THIS ISSUE...

Thanksgiving is only a week away.  Remember, there will be no school next week for Williamson County students.  The system will be closed November 24 through the 28 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.  Students will not return to the classroom until December 1.

In this issue of IN FOCUS, we have four videos for you to enjoy.  In the first one, we'll show you how a TRIP TO AFRICA inspired a local high school student's artwork.  Plus, children at Oak View Elementary School receive a visit from a very special TENNESSEE TITAN.  And find what fourth grade teachers are doing to help their students get a better understanding of MATH.  As always, be sure and check out the WCS SPORTS REPORT

Also in this issue, information about the 2008 STATE REPORT CARD; the county's newest MIDDLE SCHOOL gets a name; and local educators gain a better understanding of what life is like for people LIVING IN POVERTY.  Plus, the PAGE HIGH SCHOOL BAND and the CENTENNIAL HIGH SCHOOL BAND earn distinctive honors.

The IN FOCUS PHOTO GALLERY contains dozens of new snapshots from schools across the district.  Be sure and check it out.  Also, we have three new STUDENT SPOTLIGHTS to share with you this week, and find out which educators were recently honored by the WC-TV TEACHER FEATURE prize patrol.

As always, please remind folks to SIGN UP to receive IN FOCUS, and SEND US any comments or suggestions you might have.  The next issue of IN FOCUS will be released December 4.
