Registration for the district’s Elementary World Language Program (EWLP) is now underway.
As in years past, students in kindergarten through fifth grade who participate will have the opportunity to learn either Spanish or Chinese. The program is fee-based ($100 per student, per semester), and the cost covers all materials as well as a snack for after-school classes.
“As we begin our fourth year of the Elementary World Language Program, we are excited to see that students who participate each year are gaining confidence in their growing language skills,” said World Language Curriculum Specialist Christina Gilliland. “We know that learning a language takes time and commitment. Students and families who have devoted their time and effort to our language classes are meeting the EWLP goals to build confidence and communication skills. Teachers in our middle schools have expressed how prepared and eager the former EWLP students are to fully participate and speak in language class. This couldn’t thrill us more!”
Visit the EWLP website for more information and to register before August 12. To see what classes are being offered, be sure to click on the choices on STEP 1 of the enrollment process. New students are always welcome. For more information please contact EWLP Assistant Ruth Gutierrez at Ruth.Gutierrez@wcs.edu.
