The purpose of this section is to answer any questions parents, teachers or community members might have regarding the school district and to set the record straight in regards to any rumors that might be circulating.
If you have a question or have heard a rumor that you would like for us to address, simply SEND US your questions and we will respond to them in upcoming issues of InFocus. Below are some of the questions we have received since our last issue.
We live in the Southern Woods neighborhood. We continue to hear we are being rezoned for Ravenwood. Is there any truth to that? We have a child going to be a freshman this coming year and one that is in eighth grade. Will they both be able to finish at Brentwood if we are rezoned?
The District will begin reviewing school zones after the 2016-17 school year is underway. At this time, no plans are ready for the School Board so the rumors of particular neighborhoods being rezoned is speculation. The Williamson County School Board’s grandfathering policy can be found on the district website.
I think the BE NICE license plates are great, but it would be nice if we could support the PTA of our choice with the plates. Why is the Kenrose PTO the only one that benefits? Supporting one school’s PTA does nothing for the others.
BE NICE license plates can be pre-ordered online at https://www.kenrosepto.com/product/be-nice-license-plates/. When pre-ordering a license plate, customers can select which Williamson County school they would like to support. Twelve dollars will then go toward that particular school’s BE NICE campaign.
The reason that the Kenrose Elementary PTO benefits from BE NICE license plates is due to the considerable time, organization and administrative effort that is required to set up a mechanism for selling, communicating with, and keeping track of who has purchased the first 1,000 license plates. This is required of the sponsoring organization which must be a 501(c)(3) non-profit and cannot be the district. The Kenrose PTO agreed to take this on for WCS to make the BE NICE license plate sale possible.
Is it true that Brentwood High is going to stop releasing individual student rankings within each graduating class?
Beginning with the 2016-17 school year, students at all WCS high schools will need to request an official transcript from their school counseling center that includes their class rank if they wish for it to be reflected on their transcript.
