The Williamson County School Board is expected to consider a new calendar for the 2017-18 school year at its January 17 meeting.
Calendar M, as it’s being called, was first presented to Board members at the December 7 School Board retreat after discussions with principals and senior staff. At the retreat, Board members suggested adding an additional day to Fall Break, making it a three day Fall Break. Under this proposal, the school year would begin for students on August 10 and end with a half day on May 18. It also includes a week off for Thanksgiving and Spring Break.
This is the fourth calendar option to be presented to the Board. The district’s calendar committee previously developed three options for the Board to consider, however at the November 21 School Board meeting, the Executive Committee pulled the 2017-18 calendar off the agenda, explaining that additional discussion needed to take place. Calendar options A, B and C can be viewed HERE.
Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney plans to recommend Calendar M to the Board at its January 17 meeting. The first and second semesters for Calendar M can be viewed by clicking on the images below.
