They may not be able to shoot an apple off your head, but the students at Longview Elementary are getting to know their way around a bow and arrow.
Longview is one of several Williamson County schools that dedicates a section of its physical education curriculum to leaning archery.
Each student is taught the basics of shooting a recurve bow. That includes general safety guidelines, nocking an arrow and learning to properly remove an arrow from a target.
“It has to be my favorite PE activity because I just love archery,” said Longview fifth grade student Jace Barnett. “I feel like I’m getting better at it. I don’t think I’m really good at it, but I’m getting better.”
