A child’s wish will soon come true thanks to the hard work of students at Ravenwood High School.
Throughout the year, RHS students have been raising money to grant five-year-old Gabriella’s wish to go to Disney World through the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Middle Tennessee.
“It’s been really cool,” said RHS senior Delaney McLaughlin. “The Make-A-Wish Foundation is really close to my heart. My sister was diagnosed with cancer when she was in high school and she actually got to make a wish. It’s cool to see it’s still happening.”
From dodgeball tournaments to the Mr. RHS pageant, RHS students have found ways to collect money for this great cause.
“Our student body loves this day,” said RHS teacher Stephanie Dykes.
After several weeks of planning, what started out as a school pep rally quickly turned into a Disney-level performance. Gabriella was brought into the middle of the gym and became a princess herself after meeting numerous Disney princesses.
The entire gym joined in on the big reveal, with freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors teaming up to shout out the wish-granting phrase: “You’re going to Disney World!”
One by one, the princesses all met Gabriella and gave her a crown of her own. She was also treated to her very own royal banquet, complete with cupcakes, chips and presents for her upcoming trip to Disney World.
