Sending a child off to their first day of kindergarten can be an emotional event, but Edmondson Elementary was waiting with breakfast and smiles to console parents on the first full day of kindergarten.

On August 20, the Edmondson Elementary PTO hosted a BooHoo/WooHoo Breakfast for kindergarten parents. After bidding their students goodbye, parents gathered in the cafeteria to hear from Principal Trent Satterfield and some others who would be working with their children over the next year.

“Kindergarten can be very overwhelming, especially if you’re new to the school,” said PTO member Tronda Arrendale. “It just gives a little camaraderie. That’s why we sit them in their classes, so they can see some faces and get to know some parents when they do come up to the school. There’s a warm, fuzzy feeling from the very start. It just gives them a little thank you for coming. It’s a big day.”
