Competition season is in full swing for high school marching bands.

The Franklin Band brought home second place and tied for the Outstanding Visual Performance Award at its first Bands of America (BOA) competition of the year.

The BOA Tennessee Regional Championship at Austin Peay State University brought together 26 bands from eight states. The Franklin Band was the highest-scoring Class AAA band, earning 80.2 points. Additionally, the drum line was asked to play all the finalists onto the field during the awards ceremony. The band is under the direction of David Aydelott and Jacob Campos.

The Franklin Band’s 2018 award-winning show, Out There, will be performed at the annual Sonic Boom! Marching Band Competition on October 6. The competition will start at 5:15 p.m. at Franklin High and include 13 bands. Admission is $10.
