Centennial High Student Named 2018 Young Tennessee Artist

A Centennial High student is using her creativity and artistic skill to represent the district as a 2018 Young Tennessee Artist.

Birdie Pearse is the only Williamson County Schools student to earn this honor, and she is one of only 27 students around the state. The Young Tennessee Artist aims to showcase work done by students in Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) art programs.

There were more than 800 entries from students around Tennessee.

“Birdie is a creative and hardworking student, and she is not afraid to take risks and innovate in her work,” said Centennial High art teacher Nichole Guerrini. “She is always eager to learn something new or try out a new technique while also thinking about ways her artistic voice can have an impact.”

Birdie’s art will be a part of the exhibit in the Frist Art Museum, which is on display until March 17, 2019.
