Keep an eye on the school bus by signing up for the Safe Stop bus-tracking app.

The Safe Stop app allows parents to track their child’s school bus using GPS. The app is available on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. To access it online, visit the Safe Stop website.

“The app can do everything from giving an expected time of arrival at the bus stop to reporting lost items on the bus,” said WCS Planning and Zoning Manager Allison Nunley. “The Transportation Department uses the app’s push notification when a bus is unexpectedly delayed. We hope all parents whose children ride the bus will register for an account.”

Both general education and special education buses can be tracked through the app. Phone calls and emails will still be sent through Blackboard for time changes over 15 minutes, but the app allows push notifications if the bus is unexpectedly running late.

In addition, parents who have moved since the beginning of the school year should make sure their address has been updated with their child’s school. A registration guide is available on the WCS Bus Routes page.
